"Want to Crew" & "Crew Wanted"

This page is for people who are looking for crew as well as for people who want to crew. If you want to place an ad, send an email about your experience, if any, to Charlie Clifton.

The more information you provide, the better the chance that you will find a match that suits you.

If you show up at the Squadron 1½ hours before race start time there is a good chance you will find a ride on a boat. Hanging out at the Squadron before races is the best way to find a ride. Tell the Race Committee that you are available to crew and they will announce it over the PA system.

During Daylight Saving Time, the Friday Night Races provide an especially good opportunity because they are fun races and get the best turn out. You should be at the Squadron by 1700 - 1730 HRS. The boats leave the dock at 1800 HRS.

E Scows race Wednesdays. Contact Jim Barr for more info. 366-1972

Fall through Spring there are races once a month on Saturdays and twice a month on Sundays.

Motley Cruising races up the bay and back are on Sundays at 1300 HRS. Be on the dock by noon.

Check the Calendar   for races and be there 1½ hours before start time.

Crew available. Some experience small and larger. Nancy Breck nbreck@comcast.net 4/5/09

I am a healthy, experienced, middle age sailor looking for a local boat to crew on this winter season while my ketch is on the hard being retrofitted. I am looking for a local racing and cruising position.
I raced on San Francisco Bay for many years and did two SF to LA races. I sailed to Sarasota from San Francisco on my Gulfstar 43' ketch via the Panama Canal. For the past three years I have crewed on a Nelson/Marek 45, Hallelujah (see the November issue of Southwinds magazine). We won our spinnaker classes both times we entered the St Pete to Isla Mujeres regattas. Unfortunately that boat is now up for sail. I am a resident of Sarasota, retired and have spare time; I can fix almost anything, especially in an emergency. I also write for Southwinds. If you know of anyone who needs crew on a boat of 30' or longer please give them my name, number and email address.
